Client (User) Setup

MacOS

  1. Install Java: Download it here
  2. Download Prism Loader
  3. Copy Prism Loader into the Applications Folder
  4. Run Prism Loader
  5. Create a New Instance
    1. Select Minecraft 1.21.4
    2. Select Fabric as the Mod Loader
  6. Click Edit
    1. Click Download Mods
    2. Install the Fabric API:
    3. Install Simple Voice Chat
  7. Run Minecraft from The Launcher Screen
  8. The first time you run the Prism Loader, it will download several files, and you will need to re-add the multiplayer servers
  9. When it pops up asking if you want to allow the Microphone, be sure to allow it.
  10. Follow the directions below for in-game setup

Windows

  1. Install Java: Download it here
  2. Download and install Fabric: Download it here
    1. Note that after the install completes, it will have a popup with the link to the mods folder - you can click on that so you don't need to find it later.
  3. Download Fabric API: Download it here
  4. Download Simple Voice Chat: Download it here
  5. Put the API and Simple Voice Chat jar files into the mods folder: %appdata%/.minecraft/mods
  6. Run the Minecraft Launcher, and be sure to run the fabric-loader version.
  7. Follow the directions below for in-game setup

In-Game Setup

  1. If you are going to use headphones, connect them to the computer
  2. Join the server
  3. Press "v" to setup voicechat
  4. Follow the directions to select a Mic
  5. Select a speaker
  6. Choose push-to-talk or Voice Activation. Voice Activation is probably preferred
  7. After you complete the setup, your microphone will be muted. Press "m" to unmute
  8. You still won't be able to hear anyone until you are in a group with them
    1. Press "v" again to configure voice chat
    2. select a group or join an existing one
    3. If you don't want an icon in the top left corner of your screen, select the icon button in the group settings to turn it off
